Activities and Trips

Be Free YC organises over 22 regular
and exciting trips each year

Fantastic fun filled trips to Cadbury World, Harry Potter World, Thorpe Park, farms and wildlife parks, water sports, cinema/bowling and a yearly family trip to Bournemouth for a day out at the beach! We mix up the trips each time and make sure there is something for everyone.

Trips are arranged in two age-groups:
8 – 12 and 13 – 17

Trips are booked via a booking form which is sent out with full trip information in our quarterly newsletter. We ask for a small contribution towards each trip to help cover the cost.

Our trips are brilliant! They give young carers a chance to meet other people going through similar situations. As well as having a change of scene and break from their caring responsibilities, going on trips with Be Free Young Carers gives young carers time for themselves, time to make friends, have fun and be a child away from the stresses of caring. The freedom of going on a trip allows our young carers to come out of their shells and grow as young people.

Skills and training

As well as our fantastic trips, Be Free Young Carers arranges workshops in drama, yoga and relaxation and training to help young carers learn vital skills that will assist them in their daily lives.

First aid courses are very popular with young carers and we hope to run more again soon! We also offer regular cookery workshops – it’s so important to be confident in the home when you are caring.

We plan to widen our training opportunities to include Careers for Carers workshops, where our teenage young carers can find out what different industries are like to work in from industry professionals. If you are part of a business that could offer a workshop or training to our young carers please get in touch!
