“How incredibly easy and supportive you are as a charity! We are very grateful in a world where most systems are so tricky for parents/families and schools to access. To know you will be there to support M has brought warmth and comfort to all of us involved in supporting M.” – Sutton Courtenay Primary School

Supporting Oxfordshire’s Schools

Be Free YC supports young carers both outside school hours and within schools. We help schools set up young carer clubs, deliver assemblies, and provide toolkits and videos to help staff and students identify, understand, and support young carers.

As Oxfordshire’s only specialist young carers charity, we’ve created a dedicated school toolkit to prepare for this vital change. It includes a private YouTube assembly video to spark classroom conversations, plus printable posters and resources to raise awareness and signpost young carers to the support they need.

With an estimated two students in every Oxfordshire classroom caring for loved ones at home, we help schools break down stigma barriers, improve attendance and support the difficult daily challenges Young Carers face to enable them to succeed.
