We’re here to make life better for young carers – we won’t stop until they are seen, heard, and supported.

To access our support, the young person needs to be:

1. Aged 8 to 17 years old, living with, and caring for or helping to care for a family member(s) with a disability, mental health issues or addiction.

2, Impacted by their caring responsibilities

3. Live or attend school/college within either South or West Oxfordshire, the Vale or Oxford City Districts

Young carers with additional needs can be referred; however, Be Free YC does not have the capacity or training to provide one-to-one support on trips and activities.

If a young carer has difficulties following instructions, regulating emotions, or engaging with others, it may not be appropriate for them to attend trips and activities for their own safety and/or the safety of others around them.

We encourage you to contact our Young Carer Youth Workers prior to referring a young carer with additional needs to discuss if we are
able to support them.

IMPORTANT – Due to circumstances beyond our control, we have made the difficult decision to not take referrals where Social Services are involved. We will continue to support Young Carers ALREADY REGISTERED with us who were previously referred by Social Services but are unable to continue providing help for further referrals. For support with these young carers, then please contact the social worker involved and OCC who will carry out a young carer assessment.
