Remember a Charity in your Will
Unfortunately for many, we don’t realise the impact of a charity until something life changing happens, whether that’s a life debilitating disease, an incurable illness or decline in mental health, the list can be endless.
For young carers they are impacted by this list, and the result is their childhood shortened and their responsibilities tripled due to no fault of their own.
Be Free YC want to make it clear just how important and vital donations are to our cause. If you could take the time to find out more about our small charity, maybe you could leave something in your will to support young carers in Oxfordshire.
Yes, we understand any conversation about money can be difficult, especially when it’s about the future without someone you love. However a little thought about others and gift in your will could go a long way for a good cause.

What a donation in your will could give our Young Carers
We find it incredibly difficult as a small charity competing against bigger, well known charities with larger funding security. Another factor is we receive no government funding, solely relying on funding grants and donations. We know so many, including our own young carer families and supporters, are struggling. Trying to boost donations and partnerships during the Cost of Living Crisis has been extremely hard.
We were grateful to receive a generous memorial donation from our former Trustee Bob Ely who sadly passed away this year and this money went towards taking 16 Young Carers to the Young Carers Festival.
From the musical intros, fireworks celebrations, disco dancing and karaoke to amazing watersports, climbing frame, zip wire, lazer quests, animal encounters and more! It was incredible to offer such an amazing respite opportunity to our group of 16 young carers to experience and enjoy!
The Young Carers Festival is the biggest gathering of young carers’ in the world and to be able to offer this weekend long experience to 16 of our 13-17 year old young carers was fantastic. Over 1000 young carers attended the event from young carer charities across the UK. Here are some of the feedback we received from our Young Carers who attended –
“I would do it again, 100%. The activities and definitely making new friends. I have never done kayaking and paddle boarding and really enjoyed that.” -Be Free Young Carer
“I don’t feel nervous about going if I don’t know any people, everyone is pretty much in the same boat. They are doing the same activities and everyone is lovely here, even the staff as well. We had no problems what so ever.” -Be Free Young Carer
“I liked meeting other people who understand me and taking part in new activities that made me feel free.” -Be Free Young Carer
Without Bob leaving a donation in this will, we would of found it very difficult to attend the event and give our Young Carers such an amazing experience.
