Support For Schools

Supporting Oxfordshire’s Primary & Secondary Schools

As well as helping Young Carers outside school hours, Be Free YC also help and support schools to set up young carer clubs, attend assemblies, offer young carer tool kits and videos to help teachers and children identify, understand and support young carers.

Be Free Young Carers is currently the only specialist Young Carers Charity in Oxfordshire and in preparation for this massive change for children and young people caring for relatives, we’ve put together a toolkit designed specifically for schools. Including a private YouTube link to our Assembly Video, a perfect tool to open conversations about Young Carers and ways Be Free YC can support your school and students during and outside school hours. As well as printable resources you can put up in your corridors and staff rooms, to help not only raise awareness of young carers, but also signpost them to seek further support in school and referrals to our charity.

With an estimated two students in every Oxfordshire classroom caring for loved ones at home, we help schools break down stigma barriers, improve attendance and support the difficult daily challenges Young Carers face to enable them to succeed.
